There are plenty of options when it comes to drawing tablets, from simple no-screen drawing surfaces to high-end drawing displays. The XPPen Artis Pro 27 (Gen 2) is on the latter end of that scale, bringing advanced features at a relatively affordable price.
XPPen’s new flagship drawing tablet, this thing brings topnotch display hardware to the forefront, so you can see exactly what you’re drawing right on the same surface you’re sketching on. And yes, it’s a whopping 27 inches, making it the kind of drawing tablet you probably won’t want to try carrying in hand at any point.

The XPPen Artist Pro 27 (Gen 2) is a 27-inch pen display, so it’s about as big as many monitors out there (and probably bigger than most), ensuring it will take up a good amount of your desk space. Suffice to say, only folks who are serious about drawing might actually want to add this to their setup. The display is fully-laminated to maintain a paper-like appearance, while the ultra-thin 0.7mm luminous etched glass minimizes the gap between the pen tip and the onscreen cursor to create as natural a drawing feel as possible. It has a 178 degree viewing angle, too, so you can draw from odd positions while still seeing whatever you’re putting on screen the entire time.
It uses an ADS-IPS panel that offers full 4K resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels), along with a 120Hz refresh rate to keep things looking smooth the entire time. Suffice to say, the screen is the star here, as it also offers 10-bit color depth with 1.07 billion colors, complete with Calman verification to ensure professional-grade color accuracy. It boasts 99 coverage for Adobe RGB and sRGB< as well as 97 percent coverage for Display P3. Other screen details include a 16:9 aspect ratio, HDR support, 350 nits of brightness, and TUV SUD low blue light certification.

The XPPen Artist Pro 27 (Gen 2) uses the outfit’s X-Touch interface, which delivers 10-point multi-touch controls, so you can have all your fingers touching the screen at the same time. According to the outfit, it delivers smooth and intuitive swipes, zooms, and rotations, while allowing you to define custom gestures for tailoring the workflow to your exact liking. You can also define specific non-touch areas on the screen to prevent accidental taps while you’re doing detailed work, while an adjustable stand allows you to set it up at a variety of angles, so it’s plenty versatile on that end.

It comes with a pair of stylus pens, both of which can be stored on designated slots at the side of the pen display. Each of the stylus pens has 16,000 pressure levels, up to 60 degree tilt, 3g initial activation force, and accuracy within 0.4mm. Other features include an anti-glare layer, anti-fingerprint coating, three display ports (USB-C, HDMI, and DP), top and bottom airflow vents, and a weight of 15.4 pounds, so you definitely don’t want to be drawing while holding this in one hand. It’s compatible with Windows, MacOS, Linux (only on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or later), Android, and ChromeOS.
The XPPen Artist Pro 27 (Gen 2) is available now, priced at $1,709.99.
