We’ve seen both LG and Samsung roll out portable TVs designed for easily moving around the house. And it does look like there’s some amount of consumer interest in them. As such, it won’t be surprising to see other TV makers get in on the action like they’re doing with the HiSense RoamView.
Just like the LG StanbyMe and the Samsung Movingstyle, the new TV can be mounted on a wheeled stand or set down a flat surface, making it easy to set up anywhere at a whim. Just push the stand to the kitchen, the garage, or anywhere else. You can also just pick up the TV and set it down on the kitchen countertop, a workbench, or a desk on your bedroom, allowing you to quickly bring in a TV to any room in the house.
The HiSense RoamView is a 32-inch TV that acts more like a giant tablet than a conventional TV. For instance, it’s running Android OS rather than Android TV, complete with a touchscreen panel, so you’re meant to interact with it using your fingers rather than a remote. Heck, it doesn’t even have a TV tuner (neither analog nor digital), so it really is just a giant tablet that’s meant to be used all over the house. This means, you can use it to run regular tablet apps, so you can use it for a whole lot more than watching shows and movies.
The display itself has 4K resolution, so there’s plenty of detail and sharpness, while offering a 60Hz refresh rate, so you can hook it up to your Switch, Xbox, or PS5 for a bit of gaming fun. And yes, it has built-in upscaling technology, so it can beef up regular HD content into 4K UHD. It has two 8W speakers with DTS HD technology, so you don’t need to hook it up to separate speaker modules, while HDR support means it can process compatible videos the way they were intended to be viewed.
The HiSense RoamView comes with its own wheeled floor stand that you can easily adjust to your ideal viewing height. That means, you can raise it when you’re sitting on a stool in your kitchen island, then lower it when you’re watching it while lying in bed. The integrated wheels means you can easily push it from one room to another, while being able to adjust its position in the room on the fly. It weighs just under 17 pounds, so you should be able to remove it from the stand and carry it to another room, while the kickstand in the back lets you set it down on a table or any other flat surface.
Since a portable TV isn’t all that portable when you have to plug it in to a wall outlet at all times, it comes with a built-in battery that powers the TV for up to 10 hours at a time. Other features include1 128GB of onboard storage, a built-in wide angle camera for video calling, WI-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, Chromecast support, Miracast support, and DLNA support.
The HiSense RoamView should come out later in the year. Price is $2,000.
