There’s a number of great options in compact action cameras today, allowing you to capture footage with as little bulk and heft as possible. If you haven’t quite grown fond of the standard GoPro mini-camera profile or the Insta360 dongle-like thumb shape, maybe you’ll end up liking the TriLife AulGo’s unique form factor.
Coming in a shape reminiscent of a miniature boombox, the device looks little more than a charging case for your wireless earbuds, so it’s light and compact enough to comfortably fit in a shirt pocket. It’s versatile, too, coming with both a screw mount and a detachable magnetic base, giving you plenty of ways to mount it for all sorts of uses.

The Trilife AulGo is equipped with a Sony IMX486 image sensor, which allows it to capture 12MP images and 4K/30fps footage. It comes with electronic image stabilization, which, the outfit claims, corrects footage across six axis for jitter-free recordings. Do note, the stabilization doesn’t work on 4K footage, so you’ll have to lower resolution to either 2K or 1080p video to both activate EIS and boost the framerate to 60fps. It offers five recording modes: normal, loop, timelapse, hyperlapse, and slow motion. Sadly, we can’t actually find the framerate it will record in when using slow motion mode, so we’re not entirely sure how that’s supposed to work.
The entire front panel is covered in the device’s dual-lens setup, while the entire rear is taken up by its 1.5-inch color screen. Yep, it’s that small. Why does it have dual lenses? We don’t exactly know, since it doesn’t go into any detail about why it uses that setup. We do know those dual round optics does make it look kinda cool, so we’re not complaining. It comes with two physical buttons on top, one for power and one for W-Fi, as well as two covered ports, one USB-C for charging and one microSD card slot for extending storage.

The Trilife AulGo comes with a companion app lets you control the camera and fiddle with the settings. It connects to your phone via Wi-Fi, so you can monitor everything the camera records in real time. A built-in noise-reducing mic handles the audio recording, although given the size, you might want to use something separate to ensure better quality sounds. Similarly, the compact size means it’s only able to accommodate a small 500mAh battery, with no word from the outfit about how long it can last between charges. We’re guessing it won’t last all that long.

As we said the camera comes with a detachable magnetic mount that lets you easily snap it on ferromagnetic surfaces, allowing you to simplt snap it onto vehicles for use as an action camera. It also has a standard screw mount for easily attaching onto all sorts of accessories, allowing you to use it with most of your existing gear, whether it be handheld monopods, tripods, and anything else. All in all, the unique form factor is easily the camera’s most appealing element. Hopefully, it can bring quality footage along with it.
A Kickstarter campaign is currently running for the Trilife AulGo. You can reserve a unit for pledges starting at $199.
