The OWO Haptic Gaming System is an electronics-equipped shirt that VR players can wear to receive physical feedback that coincide with events in the game. As in, it can vibrate in the exact same spot where a bullet hits your character in-game, among other things, making it a great addition to any VR fan’s collection of immersion-enhancing gear. With the OWO HGS Assassin’s Creed Mirage Edition, the outfit is bringing the same tech to non-VR setups.
That’s right, Ubisoft partnered with OWO to create a version of the shirt specifically for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, allowing you to play the game on a regular TV or monitor while enjoying haptic feedback all over your torso, shoulders, and upper arms. We’re not sure what kind of in-game actions are going to register in the shirt, but we imagine Ubisoft has some cool ideas in mind, given how they’ve decided to partner specifically with OWO for the upcoming game.
The OWO Haptic Gaming System Assassin’s Creed Mirage Edition consists of a fitted shirt that’s designed to wear snug, so that it’s in constant contact with your skin for maximizing the haptic sensations that it can deliver, along with a control unit that it uses to communicate with the actual game. The game is set in 9th century Baghdad, so we doubt there are going to be any bullets hitting you at blistering speed, although there should be enough swords, knives, and other physical combat for the shirt to try bringing to life, not to mention all the murdering you will do, being an assassin and all. According to the outfit, you’re also going to be feeling sensations whenever you carry out an attack, which, we guess, can really make the game feel a lot more immersive.
How does it work? The shirt itself is made from Lycra that’s been augmented with a series of electrodes and haptic pads, which communicate wirelessly with the included control unit. Basically, it sounds like a next-level version of the rumbles you get from gaming controllers, which can definitely give the game a whole new dimension.
The OWO Haptic Gaming System Assassin’s Creed Mirage Edition shirt is clad in a custom aesthetic in line with the graphics of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game, so everyone knows what game you’re planning to play any time you put it on. There’s a battery integrated into the shirt, by the way, which is rated to last for eight hours of gameplay between charges, so you can go on extended playthroughs before needing to plug in. A companion app allows you to calibrate the feedback to your liking, so you can heighten the intensity, lower it, or turn certain areas off entirely.
According to the outfit, the shirt is compatible with all versions of the game. As such, you can wear it and enjoy haptic feedback, whether you’re playing on a PC, PS5, or Xbox Series. And yes, the shirt itself comes with a game code, so you can just get the wearable without having to buy the game separately.
The OWO Haptic Gaming System Assassin’s Creed Mirage Edition comes out later in the year.
