Rotary dials and programmable gaming keys are typically features you only find in more premium gaming keyboards. While those elements are nice, most folks just aren’t going to part with the kind of money premium peripherals require. That’s why we love how they’re bringing both those features in the entry-level Corsair Skiff 100 Plus.
A feature-packed gaming keyboard, it gets both rotary dials and programmable keys, along with a whole slew features for both gaming and productivity tasks. Even better, it’s priced as an entry-level gaming accessory, making it a great option for folks looking for good value in their next gaming setup.
The Corsair Skiff 100 Plus is a wired gaming keyboard, so there are no latency issues to deal with whatsoever. It’s full-sized, complete with a number pad on the right, allowing you to use it for a bunch of productivity tasks. Since it’s an entry-level keyboard, it uses membrane switches, which are quiet and responsive, making it ideal for folks who don’t like the constant clicking sound of mechanical switches. What sets it apart from most starter keyboards is the fact it comes with a rotary dial on the top right corner. However, we don’t know if it’s actually programmable for use with onscreen sliders and knobs, since it seems like they designed it as part of the media keys (for adjusting volume, navigating track lists, and such). They also threw in six programmable dedicated gaming keys on the left edge, allowing you to put various macros, in-game actions, or productivity shortcuts within easy reach without having to remap your keyboard.
Because gamers need energy drinks for those gaming marathon sessions, they made sure it can survive getting spilled on during frantic gameplay moments with IP53 water resistance (it can handle spills and splashes, basically), while a detachable wrist rest offers a soft touch rubber surface for more comfortable typing whether you’re working or playing. As with any proper gaming keyboard, it gets 10-zone RGB lighting, which you can customize either through the Corsair Web Hub or their downloadable iCUE software. Oh yeah, the RGB comes with preset effects, by the way, all of which you can cycle through using the corresponding function keys.
The Corsair Skiff 100 Plus comes with onboard memory, so any settings you put on the programmable keys will be intact when you use it with another PC (only enough capacity to save one profile, though), as well as adjustable height for a more comfortable typing angle. Other features include a USB-A cable, 12-key selective rollover, and a total of 104 keys. According to the outfit, the keyboard can be used right out the box with no software installation necessary on PCs, Macs, PS4s, PS5, Xbox Ones, and Xbox Series devices. Aside from this keyboard, they’re also releasing a non-Plus version, which is, basically, the exact same thing with the exception of the dedicated macro keys. All in all, this is really nice for an affordably-priced gaming accessory.
